About SolarDecision
Built by Jacob — a software engineer who lived the solar research struggle
I built SolarDecision after going through the same frustrating process many homeowners face when looking into solar and batteries.
When I first started researching solar for my own home, I thought the decision would be straightforward. Instead, I ended up spending countless hours comparing quotes, reading forums, checking payback calculations, and trying to figure out what information I could actually trust.
Even after installing solar, deciding whether to get a battery took me another two years.
There was plenty of sales information online, but not enough practical guidance that helped answer simple questions:
- Will this actually save me money?
- How long will it take to pay itself off?
- Is a battery really worth it for my household?
I built SolarDecision to make those decisions easier for other Australians.
The goal is simple: give homeowners clearer information, realistic estimates, and practical recommendations so they can decide faster and with more confidence.
I'm also a big supporter of renewable energy and believe better tools can help more households move toward cleaner and smarter energy use.
